Using a play environment to introduce challenges can help children to become more resourceful and inventive, as well as helping them learn how to control and coordinate their bodies. The right types of challenge can also help them to develop reasoning and negotiating skills as they work together to overcome obstacles. Traditional climbing walls enable children to climb to the top….and descend again presenting little challenge or purpose once conquered a few times. Our designs give access via the climb to other areas of the outdoors – climbing with a purpose, helping to give a greater sense of achievement and satisfaction. The challenge elements of our designs encourage children to try out new things in a safe environment. Even these can be designed to be fully inclusive for children of all abilities e.g. a chair harness on a zip wire ensures that no one misses out on the experience.
